TerraMai's acacia comes from orchard salvage in Southeast Asia. This tropical hardwood offers rich medium brown color tones and interesting grain patterns. The acacia tree has been used as a source of shellac for thousands of years. The shoots, seeds and berries are also used in Southeast Asian cuisine. Acacia trees grow quickly and are culled from orchards after about 40 years of service once they no longer produce shellac.
