Live Edge & Slab Hardwood
SENTIENT live edge table and other designs are made using sustainably sourced American black walnut, spalted maple, cherry, oak and other hardwoods. The protective coating is typically multiple applications of a natural clear ?nish. This brings out and accentuates the many colors and grain patterns and effects particularly noticeable in the black walnut species.
We always keep a supply of slabs and boards. Some will be air drying for up to 18 months or ready to go into the kiln for up to 3 months for the ?nal drying. When dry the slabs and boards are planed and then brought into the workshop to be transformed into tables measuring 5 feet up to 14 feet or headboards for beds measuring up to 12 feet in width.
