Design: 2006
Description:
The De La Warr Pavilion Chair was initially commissioned by the newly renovated De La Warr Pavilion as a piece of furniture that would represent the best of contemporary design whilst remaining sympathetic to the aesthetic of the iconic 1930s building. BarberOsgerby were directly influenced by the modernist architecture of this famous, landmark building and have created a fluid, elegant but utterly functional chair as a response.
The distinctive skid leg of this chair was developed as a response to the observation that most chairs, particularly dining chairs, are often viewed from the back. This element became the most engaging feature of the much-revered De La Warr Pavilion Chair, which is constructed from pressure die cast aluminium.
The De La Warr Pavilion Chair is available as non-upholstered (suitable for light outdoor use) or with an upholstered seat in a selection of fabric and leather options.
