Innovative, fluid and meticulous are words used to describe the Tenon series. Designed by Modernicas co-founder Jay Novak in 2004, his inspiration comes from a fascination with plywood, and his search for its optimum uses and most simplistic forms.
Created of four separate pieces the Tenon chair looks as fluid as one achieving an elegant, yet relaxed design. Furthermore, one must sit in a Tenon chair to understand its subtle comfort. Meticulous care was taken adjusting the design to have exactly the best angle at which to sit and face a table.
Constructed with 26 layers of the highest-quality hardwoods, the strength and resilience of the Tenon chair is achieved with omni-directional connections of the plywood and Modernicas own unique blind mortise and tenon joint design. This combination creates seamless joints that are capable of absorbing any stresses that are placed upon the chair, thus keeping it solid and stable through the years.
The Case Study Tenon series is available in a rosewood veneer, North American walnut veneer and a maple veneer. The maple veneer has a classic lacquer finish. The rosewood and walnut veneers have a clear satin lacquer finish.
