In 1950 Charles and Ray Eames designed a system of modular storage cabinets that made no apology for or any attempt to soften their industrial attributes. Constructed of plywood, lacquered Masonite, and plated-steel framing, these units were designed in an effort to produce economical household and office furniture using industrial production techniques.
Charles and Ray Eamess uncompromisingly progressive design was lauded by designers and architects of the time but not readily embraced by a post-war general public. Herman Miller manufactured and marketed the Eames Storage Units (ESU) in 1950 and soon ended their production in 1955.
Modernica has been building Case Study Units since 1987. Being at the forefront of rediscovering and re-launching iconoclastic designs, such as the Eames Storage Units, Modernica follows strict adherence's to the original design in regards to dimensions, frame construction and materials.
Modernicas Case Study Units can be customized and configured with a single bay or up to five bays high. The units come in a variety of color panels, X-bars, perforated metal panels, file cabinets, 2-drawer insets, 3-drawer insets, dimple sliding doors and white sliding doors. And each unit is suitable for the home, the office or a studio or workshop.
