Vacuum regularly to prevent dust and crumbs from settling into roots of fibres. Do not use a powerhead as the aggressive brush will cause damage to pile - Rug pile is not designed to tolerate the motorised force.
Avoid direct and continuous exposure to sunlight.
Use rug protectors under the legs of heavy furniture to avoid flattening piles.
Turn rug around at least twice per year to equalise wear.
Remove spills immediately; if liquid, blot with clean, undyed cloth by pressing firmly around the spill to absorb as much as possible.
Shedding of loose fibres is normal with new wool rugs and a natural result of being handmade. The longer the pile, the higher rate of shedding. Hand knotted rugs shed less than hand tufted rugs.
Shedding will diminish with regular vacuuming and proper care, typically within three to six months.
