This year we visited friends who live in the South of France. They are in the process of restoring their 400 year old cottage and large swatch of surrounding hillside. During the days we worked shoveling earth, clearing brush, and hand stacking a large stone fire pit. One day we played hooky and took Albi the family dog to a nearby village for lunch and a little swim. On our walk back we noticed a most interesting pattern of two different scales of triangular mesh pressed into the cement pavement. This rustic source became our inspiration for Matrix, a much more subtle contemporary pattern.
