Established by Santiago Castaño Carpena, “an idealist, autodidact and slightly mesmerized” individual, Sancal began by offering armchairs and modular pieces. In its short history, the company has broadened its product line to include everything from barstools to benches. For design-mad Sancal, “the creation of intelligent homes” is central to their aesthetic oeuvre.

Folk—
Designed by Rafa García in 2011, Folk is a commodious sofa intended to make everyday people comfortable: "More is better. More backrest, softer, more wood, smaller, rounder, more comfortable, more detail, more practical and more popular." This large sofa features a high back, thick cushions, and lumbar pillows to put folk at ease. Tapered wooden legs, optional wings, and available quilted covers means Folk has unique design elements that will please most everyone. The Folk system consists of sofas and modules, includes chaise lounges, that can be configured to meet the demands of any room.

Konoha—
Cleverly based on the algorithm of the double helix, Konoha benches arise from a unique form found in nature. The petal-shaped furniture can be arranged in small and large groups, close together or in a more dispersed configuration: "The result is a bench with vegetal silhouette, similar to the fragments of a plant, with which we can compose a full leaf." The creation of designer Toyo Ito, Konoha is intended to facilitate conversation and encourage free use of space. Because of the modular nature of this innovative bench system, Konoha can adapt to the dimensions and shape of any area, from long and narrow museum hallways to large and expansive hotel lobbies. In Japanese, the word Konoha means tree leaves, a perfect name for this organic bench.

Tea Collection—
The work of Estudihac Jmferrero, the Tea Collection of quilted furniture includes a bed, armchair, sofa, lounge chair, and wall panels. The highlight of all the Tea pieces is its hexagonal quilting, rich color, and large scale. Tea seating has large, chunky forms except for the Tea Chair, which has elegant tapered legs and an ergonomic curved back. Tea Bed continued the popularity of this collection and transferred it to the bedroom. It is the first upholstered bed launched by Sancal. As thoughtful as the other pieces in this design-savvy collection, Tea Bed features a back-tilt that allows users to lean back into a position ideal for reading or watching TV in bed.
Contemporary, timeless, and eclectic, Sancal design believes in harnessing “fabulous creative potential.” Their work with well-known and young designers has produced many award-winning pieces that pay special attention to shape, volume, color, material, and concept.
