Description

Launched in 1897 to provide products to the makers of custom designed buggies, Mayer Fabrics eventually turned to textiles exclusively in the early 1900s. In 1988, the company shifted its focus from residential to commercial business. Mayer Fabrics continues as a family-owned business with its headquarters in Indianapolis, the same place the company began. Known for offering contract fabrics at competitive prices, Mayer Fabrics “bridges the gaps between design, durability, affordability and sustainability.”

  • Blast From the Past— One of two iconic products designed for Fritz Hansen by Arne Jacobsen, the Egg Chair is renowned the world over for its luscious curves and dramatic back. Along with his Swan Chair, Jacobsen’s Egg Chair is a classic mid-century style icon. In fact, the decade of the 1950s can be said to belong to Arne Jacobsen, who created both lounge chairs for the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. Created like a piece of sculpture by starting with a clay mold, the Egg Chair came into being thanks to a strong foam inner shell. The recognizable shape of the lounge seat affords users a measure of privacy even in public spaces. Egg Chair sits on a star-shaped base of satin polished aluminum.
  • Proximity Collection— This group of woven Crypton fabrics is made in the USA. With ten prints and many coordinating fabrics in the Crypton line, Proximity is a great choice for contract markets that require proven durability. Resembling a circuit board, Social Network is a pattern with small squares in different colors. Jitterbug presents circles in various colors and textures—the effect is kinetic, like a fast-paced dance. Aristocrat features vertical lines made of diamonds. Other Proximity fabrics include daring Disco, organic Habitat, and nostalgic Journey.
  • Textile 3D— In partnership with Butler Woodcrafters, Mayer Fabrics introduced Textile3D in 2012, an online visualization tool that allows users to envision furniture as it would look upholstered in different Mayer Fabric textiles. Without leaving the Butler Woodcrafters website, customers can dress their chosen pieces in Mayer Fabrics products, so they will know exactly what they’re getting.

Mayer Fabrics has always had a commitment to exceptional customer service. To this end, the company assures that the telephone is always answered by a person, not a computer. They also offer a client-friendly website where customers can log in to check the status of their orders or see a digital inventory of textiles.
