Description

Lightyears insists on a careful synthesis of form and function. This means that no feature is without its functional corollary, no detail superfluous. In working with top designers such as Cecile Manz, Morten Voss, and Hidenori Kuge, Lightyears manages to make each individual lamp an event—a singular aesthetic achievement uniting innovation and style: “The combination of progressive and timeless aesthetics is the golden thread that runs through all of our product series, tangibly expressed through functional design and refined lighting technology.”

  • Pendants— Lightyears’ pendants run the gamut of the stylistic continuum—from stark contemporary minimalism to the most playful of mid-century high modern. Morten Voss’ Atomheart takes its cue from the latter era. A whimsical recreation of molecular movement, Atomheart embodies the iconography of 50s sci-fi while embracing the boundless nature of man’s imagination. At the other end of the aesthetic spectrum, the stunning Calabash by Komplot Design is a sumptuous feast of luxurious organicism. Available in black, silver, gold, and red, Calabash’s chrome lacquered and iridescent finish give this pendant a highly refined sense of decadence.
  • Floor Lamps— Lightyears’ floor lamps tend towards the slim and sleek—the perfect synthesis of space-saving function and formal innovation. Designed by Hans Sandgren Jakobsen, Radon embraces the elemental geometry of the circle and the triangle to offer a multi-directional shade and highly-adjustable base—“furnished with an asymmetrical reflector, ensuring that light spreads out precisely to the surface where it is needed.” Mondrian F takes its cue from the distinctive artwork of its namesake. Designer Cecilie Manz incorporated the unrivaled minimalism of the straight line to create a lamp that makes a striking aesthetic statement, while offering the functional perks of easy adjustability, heat deflection, and increased luminosity.
  • Outdoor Lamps— Lightyears offers many styles of outdoor lamps to illumine patios and porticoes, to create a modulated transition between outdoors and in. the HL 410 by Henning Larsen features an untreated copper shade with a white lacquered reflective underside. Combining both classical and contemporary elements, HL 410 is in wide use throughout Denmark, including installations at the Naval Station Holmen, the Old Square in Aalborg, and the Horsholm Cemetery. Primula is designer Knud Holscher’s masterpiece of minimalistic, stylistically innovative illumination. Designed with optical elements that help capture and reflect stray light, Primula provides a surplus of non-glaring, user-friendly light with very little energy expenditure.

Known throughout the globe for their premium, high-quality, stylistically and formally innovative lightpieces, Lightyears’ products have been featured at multiple noteworthy sites throughout the Europe: Denmark’s Bella Sky Hotel showcases the Calabash pendant in resplendent gold; Germany’s Hugo Boss education center offers a uniformly impressive array of the Caravaggio P1 Black pendants to illuminate the dining area; and Sweden’s newest luxury resort, the Tott Hotel Visby, employs the clean lines of the Radon floor lamp in each room—to light the way to relaxing repose.
