Description

Headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Leland International was founded by furniture maker and craftsman Tim Korzon. Launched in 1993 with the introduction of the Marquette Chair, a flexible laminated hardwood chair with two perimeter shapes (arc and linear), Leland International produces furniture that combines quality, skill, design, and attention to detail.

  • Brit Bench— A sculptural alternative to row seating for public spaces, Brit Bench is a three-pronged star-shaped bench that can stand alone or be “linked together to form molecular-like arrangements.” Each spoke of the bench gives people their own autonomous space, providing privacy in “fast-paced environments such as airports and large open lobbies.” Available upholstered or in metallic stainless or powder coat steel with an optional upholstered onlay, Brit Bench is the perfect width, allowing visitors to sit or straddle the bench. Optional floating tables give users a convenient spot to set drinks, snacks, laptops, or books.
  • Pluto— Designed by Simon Pengelly, Pluto is an elliptical bench “pleasing to view from any angle.” With a narrow base and wider seating surface, Pluto offers a dynamic form for multipurpose public spaces. An inset oval cushion within the larger ovoid structure makes Pluto even more visually arresting: the effect mimics a planet with rings. Available with one, two, or three fabrics, Pluto also provides pops of color in large open spaces such as airport lounges, hotel lobbies, and office waiting areas. A ballasted base keeps people from easily rearranging Pluto, or they can also be anchored permanently to the floor. A little piece of planetary style, Pluto “defines personal space in public seat environments.”
  • Quarry— Quarry is a paradoxical modular seating system: while incredibly light, the upholstered pieces are inspired by monolithic rocks. The vision of designer Bruce Sienkowski, Quarry includes four cuboid seating units of varying sizes. Shale, the largest, measures over 29 inches wide and 26 inches high. The wide and low Quartz sits at 16.5 inches high, with a 28.5-inch surface. The smallest pieces, Mica and Flint, which feature different stitch lines, are both 18.75 inches wide and 19 inches high. Combine the modular shapes to “create spaces with very organic, natural feels.” Winner of Best of NeoCon Gold, Quarry affords users effortless versatility. Two details elevate Quarry’s style: intentional stitch lines that mimic rock fissures and a slight angle to the seat surface. Options for Quarry include upholstery by Brentano, Camira, Carnegie, C.F. Stinson, and others; glides in standard polycarbonate or felt; and workstation perks like tablet arms, power modules, and privacy screens.

Through its collaborations with international designers, Leland International is able to consistently create award-winning pieces. From IIDEX Innovation Awards to Best of NeoCon Gold, Leland International products have earned the esteem of designers, architects, and clients alike.
