Description

Part of the Swiss Forbo Group, Forbo Flooring Systems has twelve manufacturing plants in The Netherlands, Switzerland, Russia, Scotland, France, and the United Kingdom. The company also has branches in 32 countries worldwide. In 2008, Forbo acquired Bonar Floors, a major European flooring manufacturer in the contract flooring sector, and the lightweight PVC conveyor belting business from Fenner Dunlop (Charlotte) Inc.

  • Allura— The Allura line of luxury vinyl tiles includes Allura Wood, Stone, Ceramics, and Abstract Collections. Created with the needs of interior designers and architects in mind, Allura reflects coming trends, taking vinyl “to the next level of sophistication and
performance.” Allura Wood includes a broad range of rustic, traditional, and exotic wood options such as picturesque Black Burned Rustic Pine, classic Red Cherry, and striking Soft Tigerwood, with different plank sizes that complement the design. “And the registered embossed wood designs are so realistic that you have to literally touch the floor to realise what it is actually made of,” explains Forbo. Allura Abstract includes daring designs such as sleek Metal Brush Silver, elegant Linea Pearl, and bold Metal Mesh Jeans. The Allura collection features seven embossing types that add depth and texture to the luxury vinyl tiles. And Allura luxury vinyl tiles offer environmental benefits. It meets new VOC emissions classes and reduced waste: “We use all the material we produce—anything not used or which doesn’t meet our quality standards is reconstituted and reused in other Forbo products.”
  • Flotex— A resilient floor with slip resistant and acoustic properties comparable to textiles, Flotex is completely waterproof and washable. Flotex is treated with the highly effective anti-microbial treatment Sanitized®, which offers protection against bacteria and dust mites, making Flotex an attractive option for schools and hospitals. The Flotex line includes Flotex Tiles, Classic, HD, Sottsass, and Naturals. Flotex Tiles offer flexibility and use recycled backing. Flotex Classic includes nine designs that “deliver a flawless expanse of colour.” From the small squares of the geometric Dakota pattern to the multi-directional dashes of the kinetic Montana design, each Flotex Classic product comes in bold hues like Saffron and Olive and classic neutrals like Nimbus and Taupe. Flotex HD is a digital print collection that creates an almost 3D appearance. Flotex Naturals simulates woods and corks. And Flotex Sottsass is a groundbreaking collaboration with the creative Italian design studio Sottsass Associati. These prints feature “irregular, apparently random and organic forms, and ‘optical’ features that play with scale.”
  • Marmoleum— A natural vinyl floor created from wood flour and linseed oil, Marmoleum is anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, long-lived, and 100% biodegradable. Among other international environmental recognitions, Marmoleum received the official Cradle-to-Cradle silver certificate in 2011. This 97 percent all natural product features content that is 67 percent vegetable and renewable; “Moreover, the wood flour and added tall oil are waste products from the forestry and paper industry, which Forbo recycles.” The Marmoleum line includes Marmoleum Acoustic, Oxyd, Dutch Design, and Marmoleum Meets Mendini. The innovative Marmoleum Dutch Design features twelve patterns created by Dutch designers who were given “complete artistic freedom.” Among these offerings are floors by Marcel Wanders and Claudy Jongstra. Marmoleum Meets Mendini is a collection of six designs produced in close collaboration with the Italian architect Alessandro Mendini.

Forbo Flooring Systems offers a range of environmentally friendly products made with natural, sustainable materials manufactured in minimum-waste facilities that recycle unused materials. The company’s flooring is ideal for contract markets, thanks to their hard-wearing qualities and eco-certifications. From hospitality to healthcare, Forbo has you covered.
