DryTile is a new, highly innovative system for porcelain floor tile installation. Developed in Germany and tested over 7 years, the DryTile system allows for a porcelain tile installation without adhesive or mortar. Each tile is backed with a 2.5 mm thick cork layer which extends 1.5 mm beyond the edge of the tile, creating a precise 3 mm grout joint when tiles are laid side by side. This makes DryTile installation as simple as laying tile on the floor. The joint is filled with a proprietary grout developed specifically for the system. Prior to grouting, the DryTile surface can be walked on immediately, allowing other trades to work while DryTile is being installed. Once grouted, the surface is ready for a full load within 24 hours.

The DryTile system saves time, money and is very sustainable. It offers the same quality and durability as conventional tile installations, with a fraction of the labor needed. DryTile permits an up to 8 times faster laying than conventional methods. DryTile can be installed over concrete, plywood, gypcrete, existing tile, vinyl tile, old asbestos tile or any other structural surface. The only condition is a sufficiently flat surface: a flatness deviation of 2mm over a length of 2 meters must not be exceeded.

The system utilizes the exquisite and extensive porcelain tile collections of the largest German tile producer, Agrob Buchtal. Ideal formats are 30x60 cm, 60x60 cm and 60x120 cm with a minimum thickness of 10 mm. For projects requiring extra thickness, Agrob Buchtal’s New Market Series offers porcelain tiles in 15 mm thickness.
