Description

Since the 1950s, De Padova has produced sleek and unique modern furniture. From its beginnings as an importer of Scandinavian furniture, De Padova grew to produce its own collection of furniture for residential and executive markets. Headquartered in Milan, De Padova has collaborated with well known international designers such as Charles Eames, George Nelson, Vico Magistretti, Achille Castiglioni, Dieter Rams, Renzo Piano, Gaetano Pesce, Patricia Urquiola, and Nendo.

  • Lavenham Executive— Designed by Patricia Urquiola in 2010, the Lavenham Executive Chair fits well with dining and meeting tables, or behind a desk. The quilted pattern on the back of its molded plastic chassis gives an unexpected element of ornamentation. The seat can be softened with a nude cushion or covered with a fabric or leather removable cover (also available quilted). Legs change the Lavenham Executive Chair dramatically: choose from four oak-stained ash wood legs, an aluminum swivel base, or a white or black painted swivel base (fixed or on casters).
  • Rokumaru— “A poetic version of a tree that becomes a coat rack,” Rokumaru is the 2008 vision of designer Nendo. Six (roku) branches and a circle (maru) are the basis of this linear interpretation of an organic object. Three legs form the base of this minimalist masterpiece, giving the coat rack the feel of an art easel—an appropriate analogy, since Rokumaru is artistic and sculptural. In natural or wenge-stained ash, Rokumaru has plastic feet to protect floors and angled branches cut at the ends to make hanging coats and jackets slip-proof.
  • Saturno— A table that’s all dualities, Saturno is “like a planet with its satellites.” Two staggered circular tops of two different sizes constitute this versatile table designed by two designers: the D’urbino-Lomazzi duo. Each piece, located around a central axis, rotates, and they rotate together. The larger table is a perfect size for snacks and laptops. The smaller surface works well for books or a reading lamp, suitable as a bedside table. With a steel and layered laminate base and particle board tabletops, Saturno should last as long as the Earth is in orbit. Available in white or black, Saturno is at home in lofts and flats, as well as lobbies and offices.

De Padova has produced some of modern furniture’s most memorable pieces. In the category of chairs, for example, the company offered the famous Wire Chair by Charles Eames. Many decades later, in the 1990s, De Padova manufactured the Ola Chair by Patricia Urquiola.
