Description

Founded in 1956 in Alte Vicenza, Northern Italy, Bisazza is a dynamic company “with an ability to read and anticipate the needs of the global market.” The company has flagship stores in Antwerp, Barcelona, Berlin, Chicago, London, Los Angeles, Miami, Milan, New York, and Paris. Since 2005 the Bisazza has been part of Altagamma, an association supporting the best Italian luxury brands.

  • By-Side— This folding screen by Patricia Urquiola for Bisazza features gold and glass mosaics. Done primarily in blue and white, the front of By-Side pays tribute to traditional blue-and-white china by depicting a pastoral scene of a girl on a swing. The homage to centuries-old pottery, however, ends there: because By-Side is fragmented into rectangular pieces of varying sizes, all of which can be adjusted, the screen breaks up the bucolic tableau. Additionally, By-Side is as much a piece of art on the other side: the backs of the mosaics are done in mirrors and copper, which create a cubist sculpture.
  • Mimetico— A decorative mosaic designed by Fabio Novembre, Mimetico presents an artistic interpretation of camouflage pattern. Available in three color combinations—Mimetico A, B, and C—these ornamental tiles can be used on floors or walls. In traditional khaki, grey tones, or reds, Mimetico works with different interior styles. Mimetico A complements eco-designed spaces where woods and organic motifs predominate. And Mimetico B is at home in black and white modern spaces, while Mimetico C fits in bold contemporary homes with bright pops of color.
  • Night Vision— Designed by Tord Boontje, the Night Vision Collection includes a cabinet for Bisazza Home and a wall decoration of mosaic tiles. Depicting a pixelated image of a starry night with plants and insects, the black and white mosaics give a dramatic feel to any space. The motifs—fronds and flowers, bees and butterflies—play with scale. The details of the insects, for example, seem magnified by a night-vision telescope.

Bisazza works with architects, designers, and artists to create one-of-a-kind mosaics and mosaic furniture and bathrooms. Over the years, the company has partnered with new and upcoming talents from around the globe.
