Description

Founded by Ernesto Gismondi in 1959, Artemide operates worldwide, with 16 subsidiaries and affiliated companies, 35 exclusive distributors, and production facilities in Italy, France, Germany, the USA, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. The company manufactures lighting for both private and public venues, offering lamps that work "for moments of relaxation at home, but also large sophisticated installations."

  • Cosmic Angel— A bold design by Ross Lovegrove, Cosmic Angel resembles a 3D drawing of a galaxy. Available as a ceiling-mounted or cable-suspended pendant luminaire, Cosmic Angel includes a pair of ovoid satellites hanging from the main lamp. An organic, amoeba-shaped lamp, Cosmic Angel is made of thermoplastic material with die-cast aluminum lighting units. Futuristic and ethereal, Cosmic Angel looks like a spacecraft from an undiscovered galaxy.
  • Genesy Floor— Injection-molded foam polyurethane enables this floor lamp to look like liquid metal. The creation of architect and designer Zaha Hadid, Genesy Floor Lamp seems to sprout directly from the floor—a blossom of liquid mercury. Sinuous and smooth, Genesy Floor Lamp offers two light sources, indirect halogen and direct LED lighting.
  • LED Net Circle— Designed by Michele De Lucchi and Alberto Nasson, the LED Net Circle is a sculptural ceiling-mounted luminaire—a large circular moon with little orbiting circular stars. Composed of a painted aluminum structure, LED Net Circle features individual LED lights fitted with a transparent methacrylate lens and a satin finish methacrylate lens-holder. Also in the series is a cable-suspended Net Circle lamp made of 17 interconnected dots and a linear version of the luminaire entitled Net Line.

In its quest to create human light, Artemide designs products for different light contexts and atmospheres. To this end, the company works with traditional materials such as glass and new materials such as titanium. Artemide is also known for its collaborations with international designers: Michele De Lucchi, Giancarlo Fassina, Zaha Hadid, Ross Lovegrove, Alberto Nason, and Karim Rashid, among others.
