Topped with a 1 1/4"-thick slab of Carrara marble and customizable with five finishes, it brings elegance to kitchens of any style, from traditional to transitional to modern. The clean design is the ultimate in versatility, and the spacious scale offers ample room for preparing food and gathering around. The artisans at Hickory Chair, one of America's finest furniture companies, handcraft the solid English brown oak, a richly grained and exceptionally strong wood. Built to last with traditional hand-milled joinery-the base with mortise-and-tenon and the three drawers with English dovetails-and finished on all sides using a 22-step process. The three drawers have smooth wood glides and elegant, campaign-style polished-nickel pulls. Underneath, a full-width shelf offers spacious, easy-to-reach storage. About the Construction:
Made in the USA by artisan craftsmen who take exceptional pride in their work, many of whom have worked for the company for 20-40 years.
Lumber comes only from FSC-certified renewable African tree plantations.
Frames are constructed of the finest kiln-dried hardwoods and premium woods, such as mahogany, which allows us to maintain the perfect moisture content so furniture will not warp, crack or split.
Every piece of wood is hand inspected prior to assembly, ensuring that only the finest parts are used in a Hickory Chair heirloom.
Traditional 18th-century joinery secured with glue and screws, and no staples, has proven to stand the test of time and allow our reproductions to have authenticity and maximum strength.
We use thicker corner bolts and more screws than most competitors, resulting in frames that are sturdier and less likely to break.
Veneer construction ensures that every item has beautiful grain patterns like the antique from which it was reproduced or adapted. Veneers are applied using water-impermeable glues to prevent cracking and peeling.
Real inlays are used—not decals or silk screening—which also allows the furniture to be refinished.
Extensive hand sanding, highlighting and rubbing are used in our detailed finishing process, giving each piece its deep clear finish.
Our furniture goes through a 14-step process for stained finishes. The result is a rich, smooth, highlighted and consistent finish with a deep, beautiful sheen that enhances the wood, allows the grain to shine through and does not simply color or paint the wood. It is also easy to care for.
Each piece is fitted with authentic and durable solid hardware in brass, nickel, cast iron, etc.
All interior foam and padding materials meet UFAC flammability codes.
Oak is used for drawer sides and bottoms; its strength and resistance to swelling make it ideal for smooth operation even when fully loaded and for decades of use.
Drawers are assembled using dovetail construction, the strongest and most durable type of joint, which interlocks the drawer sides to the back. Drawers are matched, numbered and custom fitted to each piece. This ensures that each drawer fits perfectly and works flawlessly, and makes each piece a unique collector’s item.
Please allow up to 6 - 8 weeks for delivery. Item arrives by our In-Home White-Glove Delivery service. With In-Home White-Glove Delivery, items are brought into your home, inspected and set up, and packaging is removed. Delivery will be made by appointment, within the continental USA only; we'll call to make an appointment. Return Policy: Made-to-order Hickory Chair items may be returned only for manufacturer's defects and damage claims for up to one year. Made-to-order items may be cancelled within 24 hours of order placement. Frames and springs are warranted to be free of manufacturing defects for the product's life, subject to the following conditions: Warranty applies only to original owner and normal residential use. Defects resulting from negligence, abuse or use in commercial, hospitality or other nonresidential settings are not covered. Furniture must be in original upholstery.
